| Yearly Wellness Exams and Vaccinations: | Yearly wellness exams are recommended for dogs and cats, as they help us assess your pet’s current status and allows us to detect potential problems earlier. We build a vaccination schedule based on your pet’s needs. Annual heartworm and fecal tests are also recommended for all dogs. |
| Illness and Injury Exams: | Illness and injury exams are seen as need requires. A full exam is performed, as not all problems are immediately apparent. Additional workup, including lab tests (in-house or outside lab) and radiology, are incorporated as needed. Hospitalization is also provided as needed. |
| Spay and Neutering: | Spay and neutering are offered for dogs and cats, starting at 6 months of age. We recommend a pre-anesthetic blood panel to help us detect potential problems prior to surgery. Cat neuters go home the same day. Dog neuters and dog and cat spays go home the following day. This overnight stay allows us to minimize activity post-surgery, monitor recovery, and evaluate any possible complications the following day. We offer additional post-op pain relievers, following the injectable form administered prior to surgery. |
| Laboratory Services: | In-house testing includes fecal exams, heartworm tests, feline leukemia, and feline immunodeficiency virus, parvovirus, and others. More involved comprehensive tests such as Complete Blood Count (CBC), blood chemistries, blood titers, and endocrine evaluation are available through outside labs. These results are usually available within 12-24 hours. |
| Radiology: | Radiographs (x-rays) allow a non-invasive exam of your pet. We provide both plain film and barium series radiographs. For those more difficult interpretations, we have access to board-certified radiologists for evaluations, with results in as little as one hour. |
| Surgery: | We offer a range of surgical procedures. For patients requiring more involved surgeries, we refer patients to the NC State vet school or Veterinary Specialty Hospital. |
| Dental Care: | Dental care includes preventative cleaning and extraction of problem teeth. A pre-anesthetic blood panel is recommended for these procedures. General anesthesia is required to fully assess all teeth, including under the gumline. However, a speedy procedure time helps us reduce the risks of anesthesia. Post cleaning care may include antibiotics and pain relievers as needed. |
| Bathing: | Bathing with the appropriate medicated shampoo and conditioner your pet needs is offered with drop off in the morning as early as 7:30 am and pick up after 3:00 pm. We include a nail trim and ear cleaning. |
| Grooming: | Drop off grooming is also offered to our clients, which can include a bath, blow dry, full body haircut and a bandana. Add ons include nail filing, anal sac expression, ear plucking, or deshed treatment. Express Grooms (services done straight through, no drop off required) are available if scheduled in advance on select days/times. |
| Boarding: | Although boarding is limited due to the size of our kennel, we provide this service for our clients. Cats and dogs stay in individual cages or runs, and twice daily walks are provided for dogs, behind our office in a fenced-in spacious area. Ask for a tour, we’ll be happy to oblige. |
| Microchips: | We use AKC Reunite microchips, which include a lifetime enrollment. A tiny microchip (about the size of a grain of rice) is implanted under the skin between your pet’s shoulder blades. It is virtually painless, about the same as a vaccination. The chip is encoded with a unique number which can be read by a handheld scanner. It can reunite you with your pet if it is lost or stolen. |
